Who is the Safeguarding Children in Education course suitable for?

This Level 2 Caredemy Safeguarding Children course is an introductory careskills course which is suitable for learners at all levels. Its content is appropriate for staff and volunteers in early years and nursery settings, as well as those who work at primary and secondary schools. It is also suitable training for governors and staff on governing bodies.

The Safeguarding Children in Education online training course can be used as part of your induction training syllabus for new staff and is also an appropriate addition to refresher safeguarding training.

What does the course cover?

The Safeguarding Children in Education course syllabus outlines what is meant by child safeguarding and the statutory duty that all staff in education have to safeguard children in their care. Completing this online safeguarding course will help you to understand your duty of care and explain the importance of safeguarding children and young people in schools and colleges. 

The course defines key terms such as ‘abuse’ and ‘child maltreatment’ and outlines the key responsibilities and risk factors involved. You will be taught how to recognise the signs of different forms of abuse and learn about topics such as coercive behaviour, child trafficking, female genital mutilation (FGM) and radicalisation. The course will also cover the steps you should take if you suspect that abuse or neglect is taking place. 

This is a CPD accredited course which will take around two hours to complete and two CPD points will be awarded upon completion.
