Fire Safety Fire Safety training is a legal requirement for all staff. Adequate fire safety information and instruction is required for all staff on induction. All staff should receive regular updated fire safety training and instruction. The duration and frequency of the training should be determined by a training needs analysis. This should take account of the fire risks present in the premises, the numbers and dependency of people at risk, and the responsibilities of staff in a fire emergency. The outcomes of the fire risk assessment and the resulting determination of training requirements should be formally recorded and periodically reviewed.
Health, Safety and Welfare All staff, including unpaid and voluntary staff. 3 Years
Infection Prevention and Control Level 1: All staff including contractors, unpaid and voluntary staff. Level 2: All groups involved in direct patient care or services. All staff (Level 1 Outcomes): every 3 years. All staff providing direct patient care (Level 2 Outcomes): every year.
Information Governance and Data Security All staff involved in routine access to information. In England, staff should receive refresher training or assessment annually
Moving & Handling Level 1: All staff, including unpaid and voluntary staff. Level 2: Those staff groups, including unpaid and voluntary staff, whose role involves patient handling activities. Level 1 Core learning outcomes are transferable and intended to be portable between roles or settings. Refresher training should take place every 3 years and/or at other times according to local risk assessment. Level 2 Core learning outcomes are transferable and intended to be portable between roles or settings. Refresher training should take place every 3 years and/or at other times according to local risk assessment. Context Specific Learning Outcomes should be delivered on induction to a specific role and repeated every 2 years and/or at other times according to local risk assessment.
Preventing Radicalisation Prevent Awareness: All clinical and non-clinical staff that have contact with adults, children and young people and/ or parents/carers. This will include for example receptionists, transport staff and phlebotomists. This is the same target group as for Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children at Levels 1 & 2. Prevent Awareness: training should be repeated every 3 years to ensure that individuals are up to date with current procedures and contacts.
Resuscitation Level 1 Non-clinical staff, dependent upon local risk assessment or work context Level 2 – Basic Life Support Staff with direct clinical care responsibilities including all qualified healthcare professionals. Level 3 – Immediate Life Support Staff with direct clinical care responsibilities including all qualified healthcare professionals. Level 1 – every year Level 2 – every year Level 3 – every year
Safeguarding Adults Level 1: All staff working in care settings Level 2: All practitioners who have regular contact with patients, their families or carers, or the public. Level 3: Registered staff who engage in assessing, planning, intervening and evaluating the needs of adults where there are safeguarding concerns (as appropriate to role) Level 1 – every 3 years. Level 2 – every 3 years. Level 3 – every 3 years.
Safeguarding Children Level 1: All staff working in health care settings. Level 2: All non-clinical and clinical staff who have any contact (however small) with children, young people and/or parents/carers or any adult who may pose a risk to children. Level 3: Clinical staff (working with children, young people and/or their parents/ carers and/or any adult who could pose a risk to children), who could potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and/ or evaluating the needs of a child or young person and/or parenting capacity (regardless of whether there have been previously identified child protection/safeguarding concerns or not).
