Psychosis

When individuals lose contact with reality or experience a psychotic episode, it is known as psychosis. This most commonly occurs in younger adults and can be very disruptive, affecting the ability to complete day-to-day tasks.

Individuals may have changes in mood or thinking, may have trouble linking ideas or words to create meaning, have difficulty concentrating, have delusions or false beliefs, be irrational, or experience extreme mood swings. In more severe cases, individuals may experience hallucinations such as hearing voices or feeling sensations on their skin.
