The Rights of Children
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) 1989 states: (scroll through)
All children have the same rights
Children should be viewed and treated as human beings instead of passive objects of care or charity
What a child requires to survive, grow, and live up to their potential
Applies equally to all children, regardless of where they are from or who they are
Consider if legal or statutory action is needed
Decide what actions to take if the allegation is not substantiated but concerns remain about standards of care
There is not a singular piece of legislation in the UK that covers child protection or safeguarding. Instead, there are different Acts that are amended, updated, and revoked.
