Proper Hand Hygiene Copy

Hands should be washed at the following times:

After removing gloves
After touching patient surroundings
After touching a patient
After body fluid exposure
Before touching a patient
Before a clean (aseptic) procedure
Before eating, drinking, or touching food
After going to the toilet
After blowing your nose
After coughing or sneezing into your hand or a tissue

Patients who are bed-bound should also have the opportunity to wash their hands before meals and after using the commode.
