Fractures

Fractures often occur in children, typically in the wrist, arm, leg, or ankle. Fractures caused by abuse are often not obvious unless x-rays are taken. There is cause for concern if there is a rib fracture, femoral fracture in a child who is not walking, metaphyseal fractures (accumulation of micro-fractures), spiral or oblique fractures of the shaft of the humerus, tibia and fibula fractures  in children under 18 months, or multiple fractures in different stages of healing.
