Code of Practice

The Health and Social Care Act 2008 updated 2015 requires all NHS trusts, care homes, and general dental practitioners to have effective measures for prevention, monitoring, and investigations of HCAIs.

The Code of Practice regulates the delivery of clean and safe care. Failure to comply with the Code results in a warning notice being issued by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The CQC can enforce infection prevention and control standards such as restricting services a healthcare provider can offer.
